Our Journey
1970s - 1980s
New Vietnamese migrant families and small businesses begin shaping Victoria Street into multicultural shopping and dining precinct.
1990s
Victoria Street become widely recognised as one of Melbourne's most important Vietnamese food and retail destinations.
2000s
Restaurants, groceries, health, beauty and service businesses continue to grow, supporting residents, workers and visitors.
2010s
Community leaders strengthen advocacy for safety, cleanliness, events, business support and street identity.
2024
Victoria Street Business Association receives multicultural trader support funding and begins new projects focused on trader stories, greening, graffiti management and engagement.
2025
The Association expands advocacy for safety, parking, revitalisation, festival funding and stronger partnerships with Council and Government.
2026
Victoria Street builds momentum through Expo, Customer Choice Awards, Lunar Festival planning, Moon Lantern Festival and The Next Fifty Years campaign.
Future
A safer, greener and more vibrant Victoria Street - with stronger businesses, more visitors, better public spaces and greater recognition as a multicultural destination.
