Victoria Street Festival Returns on 1 February, Celebrating Vietnamese Heritage, Community and Revitalisation

Richmond, Victoria — Victoria Street will come alive on Saturday 1 February, from 12:00pm to 10:00pm, as the Victoria Street Festival returns with a full day of cultural celebration, food, performances and community activities.

Held along Victoria Street, Richmond, the festival celebrates the rich Vietnamese heritage of the precinct while showcasing its ongoing transformation into a vibrant, safe and welcoming destination for locals and visitors alike.

For more than four decades, Victoria Street has been at the heart of Vietnamese settlement in Victoria. Emerging in the early 1980s as Melbourne’s primary Vietnamese commercial and cultural precinct, the area has grown into a nationally recognised symbol of multicultural Australia — renowned for its food culture, festivals and strong sense of community.

The Victoria Street Business Association (VSBA) continues to advocate for local traders and the long-term future of the precinct. Recent milestones include securing long-term funding for Lunar New Year celebrations through to 2027, investment in the Victoria Street Revitalisation Project for 2025–2026, and continued advocacy for a Vietnamese Commemorative Marker planned for 2026. The commemorative marker will recognise 50 years of Vietnamese settlement in Australia, 25 years of VSBA advocacy, and 10 years of the Victoria Street Gateway.

The festival opening will feature cultural and contemporary performances, reflecting both tradition and emerging talent. With an estimated 30,000–40,000 attendees expected throughout the day, the festival highlights Victoria Street’s role as a major cultural destination and community gathering place.

VSBA’s vision for Victoria Street is a greener, safer and more walkable precinct — active day and night — where multicultural heritage is celebrated, businesses thrive, and communities connect.

The Victoria Street Festival will run from 12:00pm to 10:00pm on Saturday 1 February, offering visitors a full day of food, entertainment and cultural experiences for all ages.
